In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer,
We pray for our Companion Diocese of the Virgin Islands and its' bishop, Ambrose; We pray for the Diocese of Jerusalem; and Episcopal Retreat Houses and places of spiritual refreshment.
There will be no Altar Flowers during Lent.
The lack of flowers reflects the passion, suffering, mystery and ultimately, the ecstasy of Christ and His resurrection. The forty days of Lent extend from Ash Wednesday through Holy Saturday, omitting Sundays. Lent is a season of spiritual preparation in which we remember Christ's temptation, suffering and death before Easter.
It is observed to commemorate the last week of Jesus' life, His suffering and His death.
