   DIOCESAN CYCLE OF PRAYER & ANGLICAN COMMUNION CYCLE OF PRAYER

In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer,

we pray for our Companion Diocese of the Virgin Islands and its bishop, Ambrose;  University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee; and AIMS, the Alabama Integrative Ministry School.

In the Anglican Communion Cycle of Prayer

we pray for the Work of the Mother’s Union around the world;

Sheran Harper – Worldwide President, and

Bev Jullien – Chief Executive.

What is the Advent Wreath?

The most common Advent candle tradition involves four candles around the wreath.  A new candle is lit on each of the four Sundays before Christmas. Each candle represents something different, although traditions vary. The first, second and fourth candles are purple; the third candle is rose-colored.  The first candle symbolizes hope and is called the ‘Prophet’s Candle.’ The second candle represents faith and called ‘Bethlehem’s Candle.’  The third candle symbolizes joy and is called the ‘Shepherd’s Candle’.  The fourth candle represents peace and is called the ‘Angel’s Candle.’
